Smoking has negative effects on the reproductive system as well as on all body systems. There is a decrease in ovarian functions, entering menopause at an earlier age, an increased risk of miscarriage, preterm labor and an increase in the risk of giving birth to a low birth weight baby. Smoking during pregnancy prevents the baby from feeding through the placenta and low birth weight babies are born.
